Kia ora and welcome to High Score! “Do or do not. There is no try.” Yoda, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
It is with the wisest, Yoda-like energy that we warmly welcome you to the musical experience of your most fantastical dreams. Along with a 12-piece orchestra, with High Score: Legendary soundtracks in concert Supertonic is on a mission to spirit you away with the sublime soundscapes of video games, fantasy adventure films and anime. This concert will take you through decades of music, from retro video game classics like Tetris to modern favourites such as Halo and Grammy Award-winning pieces from Sid Meier’s Civilization. The concert also includes classic anime themes, Marvel masterpieces and scores from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Through the power of choral singing, we hope to evoke the feeling of excitement and possibility of a convention - where everything you can imagine is in one big place. Come with us on a great adventure through all the different worlds represented in music and song. Musical Director: Virginie Pacheco Virginie began her musical training in France, where she graduated with Honors from the University of Nancy with a Bachelor in Musicology. After completing diplomas in Recorder and music theory, Virginie settled in Montreal to pursue her Masters in Conducting at the Université de Sherbrooke. She quickly became an acclaimed emerging conductor, winning the Iwan Edwards award in 2015. She has participated in masterclasses throughout the world, and in 2017 spent a summer residency with the Ontario Youth Choir. High Score is Virginie’s third concert with Supertonic as Music Director, and shares the role with musical co-director Isaac Stone.
