What type of choir is Supertonic?
A traditional SATB choir based in Wellington, NZ. We predominantly sing in a classical style, although we do sometimes sing musical theatre, pop, rock and jazz. Our concerts are polished, thought-provoking, entertaining and accessible, and are performed in prolific and interesting venues. We place an emphasis on singing with excellence, as well as providing a vibrant social environment for our members - we believe the two go together.
What’s in the audition?
An example of the audition structure can be found here . It is a closed audition - the only people in the room are you, the musical director and an assistant.
What’s the commitment?
Regular rehearsals are once a week, on Mondays from 6:30pm - 8:45pm in the Wellington CBD. The 2024 choir calendar is located here. Please note that the minimum attendance of 80% for rehearsals is required for the year.
Are there costs involved?
Yes - there is a subscription fee each year, plus possible costs for a workshop weekend, and/or tour. We don’t want money to get in the way of full participation though, so we’re always willing to come to alternative arrangements on an individual basis.
Anything else?
Questions around the audition process, the choir, or anything at all are welcome - please email [email protected] and we'll get back to you.
